“I don’t expect any fireworks but you never know” is what James Di Fiore said about the upcoming Madawaska Valley municipal candidate Q&A.

Mr. Di Fiore, a freelance political and media journalist, will be moderating the event to make sure everything runs smoothly. When asked about the expected atmosphere on the floor, the Madawaska Valley Public Library CEO, Karen Filipkowski mentioned she wasn’t worried. “We want this to be a respectful dialogue between the community and the candidates” she mentioned. She also stated that the goal is for the community to find out more about the leadership qualities and the experience that the candidates can bring to the table.

In terms of questions that the candidates will be asked, Di Fiore said “the library board and myself just sat down and tried to come up with questions that were both overarching and fair”. He expects that the majority of interesting questions will be asked by the audience.

The event is co-sponsored by the Madawaska Valley Public Library and the Royal Legion Barry’s Bay Branch 406. The event will be held at the Barry’s Bay Legion on Thursday night from 7:00 to 9:00. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
