After months of searching, Renfrew County has its new Chief Administrative Officer.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Paul Moreau would be taking over the duties in October. Moreau was one of 55 applicants for the position after it was announced in May that CAO/Clerk of eight years Jim Hutton was retiring.

From the 55 applicants, a recruitment committee interviewed the final five applicants before selecting Moreau.

The recruitment committee was comprised of:
Jennifer Murphy – Renfrew County Warden
Walter Stack – Chair of Renfrew County Finance and Administration Committee
Glenn Doncaster – Vice-Chair of Renfrew County Finance and Administration Committee
Peter Emon – County Councillor and former County Warden
Bob Sweet – County Councillor and former County Warden
and Janice Visneskie-Moose – County Councillor and former County Warden

Moreau is a familiar name to those in Renfrew County as he has over ten years of municipal experience, including working with the county since 2011. Moreau served as the Director of Development and Property for the County for five years until 2016, when he stepped into the role of Director of Social Services. Before working with the county, Moreau was a District Manager with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Moreau says he’s excited to get started and have a productive relationship with County Council, as well as municipalities across Renfrew County. Warden Jennifer Murphy says she sees Moreau as a valuable asset to the County of Renfrew as an outstanding leader, and she is confident he will excel in his new role as CAO.

Current CAO Jim Hutton finishes in the position on September 29th.
