Health Unit Reminding You To Make Sure Your Child’s Immunizations Are Up To Date

With your children heading back to school next week, you should make sure they’re all caught up on their shots.

That’s the message from the Renfrew County and District Health Unit, which is running immunization clinics before the school year starts for students who still need shots.

Registered Nurse Erin Vereyken says that without these shots, students can get sick and bring illness into schools. If a student has no proof of being given an immunization, they can be suspended until proof of the shots has been provided to the school.

Vereyken says you can get your child’s immunization shots through the health unit across the county, or at your family doctor. She adds that the RCDHU also offers in-school immunization to Grade Seven students.
