Until Steady Rain falls, the Fire Ban will Continue

Even with rain falling, the total fire ban in Madawaska Valley will continue.

That’s according to Fire Chief Corwin Quade who says significant rainfall needs to happen before lifting the ban will be considered.

He says that we’re “sitting in a tinderbox,” and that things could get bad really quickly if a fire is started.

He says that since the fire ban has been put on the Fire Department has seen a rise in calls. He says that 40 to 60 calls have come in since the ban was put in place earlier this month. Four of those calls have been serious ones, Quade says.

Quade said one thing he wants to get across is how fast a fire can spread.

Quade says there is no timeline for the fire ban in Madawaska Valley ending. He urges people to continue to follow the ban and share the news to those who might not know about it.
