A handful of young baseball players from Barry’s Bay are competing amongst the province’s best this week in Ottawa.
Chris Gienow is a coach with the little-league team and says that the team, based in Pembroke, is embracing an underdog role against teams from bigger cities.
Gienow says with hockey so popular in the winter, most of the players have competed against one another in the past, but that hasn’t stopped them from working together.
The Pembroke Pirates, which consists of players aged 13 and 14, will play games being live-streamed on Facebook against Nepean, South Ottawa, Kingston and Oakville.
