While Madawaska Valley is in a total fire ban, Fire Chief Corwin Quade is reminding you it’s costly if you’re caught burning.
Quade says the fire department has responded to 14 calls since Monday morning, many of them being fires that got out of hand. He reminds you that a total ban means no burning of any kind, and there’s no exceptions.
Quade says if you’re caught burning illegally, the cost can add up quickly.
Quade says the majority of illegal fires getting out of hand have been in more forested areas as oppose to in higher population communities.
