A forest fire north of Carson Lake is being control by local firefighters.

That’s according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, which says the fire started Friday night around 6:00pm. The MNRF says the blaze is 1.3 hectares and is just shy of the township lines between Madawaska Valley and South Algonquin.

Madawaska Valley is currently rated as a high risk for forest fire dangers. A full burn ban is currently in effect for the township, as well as others within Renfrew County.
