The Renfrew County District School Board has approved its budget for the upcoming school year.
The budget is over $138-million for the 2018-2019 year, which includes a $3.4-million increase in operating revenue, three percent higher than last year.
The school board says highlights of the budget includes $250,000 for the expansion of French as a second language, over $140,000 for busing, and an additional $800,000 being put towards special education. Wendy Hewitt, Chair of the Board, says she’s pleased to see a focus on making investments in French as a second language.
As far as buildings go, the school board says Fellowes High School and Renfrew Collegiate are both undergoing renovations starting this summer.
The Renfrew County District School Board operates 21 elementary schools, seven high schools and four continuing education centres.
