1st Madawaska Valley Scouts wrap up inaugural scouting season

The first year of having a Scouts Canada group in Madawaska Valley was a successful one, but there’s always room to improve.

That’s the messaged from Cub Scout Leader Lynn Beauchamp, who says the year was a success as far as getting kids involved in scouting activities.

Beauchamp says that scouting is an opportunity that’s meant for everyone, regardless of where you’re from or your family’s income.

While the first year was a huge success, there was still a lot to learn from it. Marketing and Communications Volunteer Christine Hudder says it was a learning curve just as much for the scouters as it was the kids involved.

Throughout the year, Scouts throughout Madawaska Valley took part in crafts and games while building friendships. Beauchamp says that while scouts is meant to teach leadership and skills, the biggest goal is that the children have fun. Looking ahead to next year, the group says it would like to have more people volunteer, whether it be as a scouter or as someone with a skill to share with Scouts and Beavers.

1st Madawaska Valley Scouts says its first year is largely thanks to seed funding from Northern Credit Union.
