Keeping local bodies of water clean is crucial for both residents and tourism.

That’s the message from Terry Rees, Executive Director of the Federation of Ontario Cottagers Association, who says the session will focus on making sure your septic tanks are working properly, as well as invasive species in waterbodies.

Rees says these species can affect the balance in the water for the worse.

Rees also says that a presentation will be given about keeping your septic tanks in working order, which he says it a big factor in keeping lakes and rivers clean.

The event is this Saturday from 9:00am to noon at the Hastings Highlands Centre in Maynooth and is free to attend.
