With the 2018 Municipal Budget adopted, Madawaska Valley’s Mayor feels it sets the township up for years to come.

The new budget would see a 1.8% tax levy for residents in Madawaska Valley. Mayor Kim Love says a big focus on the budget was making sure infrastructure is strong for the future.

Included in the 2018 budget is the repaving of Old Barry’s Bay Road, a new firetruck that was received by the township over the winter, and a new play truck that was used by operations staff in the winter.

Love says this budget felt like four years in the making, but it one that everyone on council agreed with.

Love says another big item on this year’s budget was a new refrigeration panel for the ice rink in the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre, which costed roughly $60,000.
