The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is reminding you to test your well water.

According to the health unit, well water is tested for bacteria. Getting your water tested is a good way to catch any changes in the quality of drinking water.

Teresa Clow, a Senior Public Health Inspector with the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit recommends water be tested throughout the year.

Clow says sometime during the summer is also a good idea to test water.

Clow says testing is free for private wells.

You can visit the Renfrew County and District Health Unit for more information on where you can pick up and drop off your free water bottle samples for private wells. You can also learn how to disinfect a well if it’s required, along with other drinking water information.
