Update #3: John Yakabuski will retain his seat in the Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke riding as tonight’s results continue to roll in. We’ll have more results later this evening.

Update #2: With 20 of 102 polls reporting, Pc candidate John Yakabuski leads with 7,556 votes or about 68 percent. NDP candidate Ethel Lavalley has 1,787 votes(16 percent), Liberal candidate Jackie Agne has 1,210(11 percent), Green Party candidate Anna Dolan with 343 votes(3 percent), Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party candidate Murray Reid has 97 votes and Libertarian Jesse Wood has 80 votes.

So far provincially it looks likes the PC party is headed for a majority…very early in the night PC candidates have 40% of the popular vote with the NDP with 34% of the popular vote.

UPDATE #1: As we wait for results to start coming in let’s look at the provincial race. The latest IPSOS poll suggested that Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservative party has 39-percent of the popular vote and likely headed for a majority win, but don’t count Andrea Horwath’s NDP part out yet. That same survey suggests they are just behind the PC’s at 36-percent. The Liberals trailed far behind at 19-percent. But what tonight will come down to is how every voter in Ontario felt when they marked their “X” in the box beside a candidate’s name.

The polls have closed and now residents in the Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke riding await the results.

After days of advanced polling, special ballots and 12 hours of polling today, an MPP for the riding will be decided.

In the running was incumbent MPP Conservative John Yakabuski, Liberal Candidate and Bonnechere Valley Councillor Jackie Agnew, NDP Candidate and former Whitney-area Mayor Ethel Lavalley, and cottager-turned-resident Anna Dolan representing the Green Party.

Between 9000 and 10,000 voters turned out for advanced polling in the riding last week, totalling up to nearly 12% of the over 77,000 eligible voters.
