NDP Candidate Ethel Lavalley wants cheaper hydro, better care for seniors

Former Whitney-area Mayor Ethel Lavalley hopes to represent the residents of the Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke riding in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

Lavalley was involved in local politics before the labour movement in Ontario for over 20 years, and now she’s running for MPP in the riding.

The NDP candidate says one of the biggest issues in both the riding and the province is hydro costs.

Another issue for Lavalley is healthcare for seniors within the riding, which is something she’d like to see addressed.

Lavalley says more nurses are also needed within the riding for long-term care centres and hospitals.

She also thinks that somewhere along the line, the ball was dropped when it comes to affordable housing within Renfrew County as there are over 400 families waiting for cheaper housing within the county. She says residents need to be looked after, but that the government must also look to the future and determine how to attract more people to Renfrew County.

MyBarrysBayNow.com will have candidate profiles highlighting Anna Dolan (Green Party), Jackie Agnew (Liberal Party) and John Yakabuski (PC Party) this week before residents head to the polls this Thursday for the Provincial Election.
