Hastings Highlands Council has voted in favour of who should be the municipality’s new councillor.

Dorothy Gerrow was asked to step into the role during today’s council meeting. She would take over for Frank Hickey, who was removed from the position for not filing a mandatory financial statement after the last election. Gerrow says she appreciates council’s confidence in her.

Gerrow tells Moose FM there are some skills she can bring to the council table.

Gerrow says she looks forward to working with council to move the municipality forward. She is expected to officially be sworn-in during council’s meeting next Wednesday. Mayor Vivian Bloom says she looks forward to working with Gerrow because her wealth of experience will make her a valuable member of council.

Four councillors voted in favour of asking Dorothy Gerrow to step into the role. Two voted in favour of asking Kristena Schutt-Moore. Roger Davis and Ed Kobylka also put their names forward to take on the vacant council seat.
