Blood Donor Clinic in Pembroke Exceeds Expectations

The most recent blood donor clinic in Pembroke blew away its target of collecting 120 units of blood.

That’s according to Canada Blood Services Territory Manager Mary Ann St. Michael, who says 158 donors turned out for Tuesday’s clinic with 141 units of blood being collected throughout the day.

St. Michael says that works out to about 118% of the target for the clinic, one of the best turnouts she’s seen in Pembroke in over five years.

She says she believes a big part of the turnout was a local family who was promoting the clinic to honour their sick child, as well as donors showing support following the Humboldt Broncos bus crash in Saskatchewan last week.

The next blood donor clinic in Pembroke is on May 8th at Garrison in Petawawa, it’s recommended you register ahead of time at Blood.ca.
