Multiple Algonquin Park Campground Openings Delayed, Refunds Available
A number of Algonquin Park campgrounds will be opening later than usual.
The announcement was made by Ontario Parks on Friday. The reason for the delay is because of the late arrival of spring.
Ontario Parks says the following will all remain closed until May 4th:
-All backcountry campsites, ranger cabins, portages and backcountry access points
-Rock Lake Campground
-Tea Lake Campground
-Whitefish Group Campground
Ontario Parks says that any visitors who already had a reservation with an arrival date up to May 3rd can either get a full refund or change their reservation dates free of charge. Service staff from Ontario Parks will contact these affected reservation holders to tell them about the delay.
Staff from Algonquin Park will continue to monitor conditions at campgrounds, for updates you can click here.
