Local Businesses Feel The Pressure of New Minimum Wage During Off-Season

With a quarter of 2018 already gone by, local businesses are feeling the effects of the new minimum wage.

On New Years Day, minimum wage in Ontario went from $11.60 an hour to $14 an hour.

Barry’s Bay BIA President Ted Williamson says that the implementation of the new minimum wage was at a tough time for local businesses.

While it’s not a secret the winter is the off-season for lots of local businesses, Williamson says he feels the increased minimum wage is needed.

Minimum wage in Ontario is set to go up to $15 an hour next year on New Years Day.
