Madawaska Valley will be getting some more help following last spring’s flooding.
Township Council learned last week that it has been given over $135,000 through the Municipal Disaster Recovery Assistance Program from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.
The funding is mainly for costs associated with road, culvert and wharf repairs that the township would’ve needed done after the flooding.
Minister of Municipal Affairs Bill Mauro said he commends the residents, staff and first responders of Madawaska Valley for their hard work and dedication during the flood, and that the province realizes just how much of an impact the flooding had on the community.
Council said that a big part of receiving the funding was the hard work done by township staff putting the application together in August.
