The Combermere Recreation Committee is thrilled to be involved with the Main Street Revitalization Funding.
Last month, it was announced that nearly $41,000 would be allocated to Madawaska Valley for main street projects.
On Tuesday, Madawaska Valley Council agreed on funding allocations for the three towns within the township, which say Barry’s Bay get $20,400, Wilno get $6,800, and Combermere receive $13,600.
Council says it will also be working with organizations in each town to receive input regarding how the funding should be used. The Combermere Recreation Committee, the Barry’s Bay BIA and the Wilno Heritage Society were community groups mentioned.
Elaine Schweig, Chair of the Combermere Recreation Committee, says committee would’ve approached council regardless.
Schweig also says committee has been looking into projects since before it even heard the news.
In January, the provincial government announced that $26-million dollars would be allocated to municipalities in Ontario for Main Street Revitalization projects.
