Daytime fire burning is no longer allowed in Madawaska Valley.
That’s because between April 1st and October 31st only night time burning is permitted for residents in Barry’s Bay, Combermere and Wilno.
Madawaska Valley Fire Chief Corwin Quade says this is put into effect to keep residents safe.
With night time only burning, you can have a fire going from one hour before sunset until one hour after sunrise.
Quade says if you’re caught breaking these laws, it could cost you.
Quade says he also works with fire chiefs in neighbouring townships as well as the MNRF to determine when a full fire ban should be placed.
You need a permit to have a fire on your property, which lasts for three days after purchase and can be bought at the township office for $10.
