BANCROFT AND CENTRAL HASTINGS OPP AMALGAMATION NO LONGER BEING CONSIDERED

The OPP is no longer considering amalgamating the Bancroft and Central Hastings OPP detachments.

In February, the OPP announced it was considering the amalgamation to find efficiencies and keep policing costs affordable. However, Hastings Highlands Council received a letter from the OPP’s East Region Headquarters as part of today’s council meeting. In it, the OPP says it will not be moving forward with the amalgamation process based on concerns from many municipalities. The OPP says it will continue to review both detachments to modernize inefficiencies.
