Residents can take part in a gun amnesty next month if they choose.
The amnesty is being held by the OPP, all month long in April. Killaloe OPP Constable Catherine Yarmel says this gives you a safe way to dispose of any unwanted firearms.
Yarmel says it’s important to follow the correct steps of the amnesty, which includes contacting police to come retrieve the weapons and NOT bringing them to a detachment.

Yarmel also says that in many cases during a break and enter, firearms can be stolen when unattended.
If you’d like an officer to come retrieve your unwanted firearms, you can call 1-888-310-1122 to arrange a pickup.
