Council approves zero per cent tax increase in Hastings Highlands

It’s official; municipal taxes in Hastings Highlands won’t be going up or down this year.

Council approved the municipality’s operating budget during a special meeting earlier today. Mayor Vivian Bloom says she is pleased that the budget has been passed earlier than usual, and that council is very happy that taxes won’t be going up.

According to Treasurer David Stewart, residents with properties assessed at $188,000 will continue paying $1,400 in taxes to Hastings Highlands. However, your tax bill could still see an increase, as the Hastings County and school board budgets haven’t been approved yet. Click here to find out more.
