The Madawaska Valley Friendship Club says it’s planned talk with firefighters on home safety in being postponed.

But Fire Chief Corwin Quade says firefighters are continuing home inspections as part of a campaign to educate the public.

Quade says you can still do simple things to improve home safety for you and your loved ones.

Coming up with a quick escape plan and making sure you have working smoke and C-O detectors can be your first line of defense.

You can check in with the township directly to either schedule a home inspection or to pick up smoke and carbon monoxide detectors at cost.

Quade says no fines are being handed out and the fire department’s top priority is your safety.
