Red Flags Raised over Obesity Rates in Hastings County

Hastings and Prince Edward county residents might want to put a stronger focus on living healthy.

That’s because recent data from Hastings and Prince Edward Public Health shows the counties obesity and smoking rates are higher than Canadas.

The health unit reports over 59 per cent of residents are overweight or obese, compared to a national average of around 52 per cent.

The area also has more daily or occasional smokers than Canada’s average of 20 per cent.

Across the counties, more than 28 per cent of residents smoke.
