Township of Madawaska Valley Mayor Kim Love and Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Mayor Janice Visneskie-Moore have been named deputy wardens for Renfrew County.
Love says while the appointments are ceremonial, it brings prominence to the two neighbouring communities.
Bonnechere Valley Mayor and County Warden Jennifer Murphy made the appointments in county council this week.
Deputy warden responsibilities include representing the county at special events and essentially being everywhere Warden Murphy can’t be.
Love says the appointments are also symbolic of the bond between the communities.
