Vote on Strike Action Could Impact Youth Welfare and Protection Services

Members of the OPSEU for the Renfrew County Family and Children’s Service have voted a majority for a possible strike action.

That’s only if negotiations break down for a new collective agreement moving forward.

The union’s president, Nicole Dennison McLeoad says this is the Local 459’s first strike vote since 1984.

The union says it’s reluctant to sign any agreement unless there is clear language addressing workload for staff.

If a strike does happen, it would affect youth welfare and protection services within the county.
