Madawaska Valley is saying goodbye to its CAO, Craig Kelley this week.

Kelley has served as Chief Administrative Officer for three years, being brought on by the former township council and embraced by the new group.

He’ll be assuming his new role as Director of Development and Property for Renfrew County next week.

He says working with municipal staff has been one of the most rewarding experiences while working for the township.

Kelley helped to bring in new administrative policies which streamlined processes for staff and council.

He says he’s extremely proud of the township for bringing in volunteers from the community to sit on committees, which helped to improve transparency and gave residents a louder voice in making recommendations to council.

Kelley says he hopes to bring a certain sensitivity to the county level towards rural communities as he assumes his new role.

The township’s communication coordinator, Gwen Dombroski has been named interim clerk as the township looks for its new CAO.
