CBS Continues Call for more Blood Donors, Clinic Making Stop in Eganville in January

Canadian Blood Services is putting out another call to donors in eastern Ontario.

CBS is reporting around 5,000 donations are needed every two weeks to supply hospitals in the region, with around 2,700 appointments slated for that window.

Larger urban centres like Ottawa or Renfrew could face a potential shortage.

It says winter storms played a major role in many blood donor appointment cancellations across the region.

Another factor could be new guidelines changing the minimum time between donations for women from eight to 12 weeks.

Canadian Blood Services held a clinic in Barry’s Bay yesterday and will be in Eganville next month.

There are also permanent donor clinics located in Ottawa and Kingston.
