The annual Rally of the Tall Pines starts tonight in Bancroft.

The sixth round of the Canadian Rally Championships which has been happening in Bancroft since 1997 will see a number of high-class rally drivers taking part.

One of the competitors is Subaru Canada’s Driver Antoine L’Estage, who has won the Rally of the Tall Pines five times.

L’Estage says the conditions of the rally are unique as it’s not quite cold enough to take advantage of snow banks and other winter conditions.

Also competing in his first Rally of the Tall Pines is Nitro Circus Star and Subaru USA Driver Travis Pastrana, who has some ideas on why you’ll want to be there.

He says the jumps, the combination of ice and mud makes conditions and the race itself so unique.

Shakedowns are happening tonight, before the all-day event kicks of tomorrow.

The Rally Headquarters have been set up at the Dungannon Recreation Centre, although the official spectator area is Bronson Road north of the Iron Bridge.

Small portions of Landon and Bronson roads will be closed tonight from 5:30pm until 9:00pm, and tomorrow from 10:00am until 4:00pm and 8:00pm until 11:00pm.

Lower Turriff and Colbourne roads will be closed between 8:15am and 11:45am tomorrow.

Old Detlor Road will be closed from 10:15am and 1:15pm and again from 8:00pm until 11:00pm tomorrow.

Old Hastings Road will be closed from 7:45am until 11:45am tomorrow, and again from 1:45pm to 5:00pm and 6:00pm to 9:15pm.
