Both Madawaska Valley and Bancroft councils have voted in favour of supporting a provincial bill meant to address discrimination against stroke patients.

Bill nine, or the End Age Discrimination Against Stroke Recovery Patients Act, will make sure stroke patients be provided with treatment quickly, regardless of their age.

Currently, stroke survivors between 19 and 64 years old are not entitled to publicly funded treatment.

Hastings Highlands Council is also considering supporting the bill, and will discuss it at its meeting on December 7th.
