It’s still cyber security month for the Killaloe OPP and officers are helping to raise awareness to protect residents’ personal and banking information.
Police say they’re focusing on email specifically this week and helping to educate residents on the dangers of opening attachments, even if they seem like they come from sources you may know.
Worms, Trojans and some viruses can infect your computer without your knowledge and remain in the system gathering information unless they’re identified.
The OPP says it depends on your email provider as some will use virus scanning to remove harmful emails, but some can still slip through the cracks.
